The Bennington looks great on paper, but after moving in I realized I made a mistake. Leasing agents are friendly until you move in, then they will ghost you. Maintenance takes a year and a half to get the job done. There is such a thing as one person on the staff who is nice and everyone seems miserable to be around. The apartments also don't look like they have been renovated in 20 years. There are cracks in the walls everywhere, stains on the carpet (which was never cleaned before I moved in), old appliances, and so onThe carpet looks disgusting. Oh, and don't forget the trains. Nobody mentioned to me that I had to hear loud trains 24/7. It's quieter with the windows and doors closed, but who wants to be locked up 24/7 (just a note: try to move a unit off the tracks if possible). We will definitely look elsewhere at the end of our lease.

Absolutely the worst apartments in Silver Spring. Maintenance requests are never processed quickly. It took me six months to fix a washing machine after more than a dozen complaints, and six or seven times dirty water pooled in the bottom of the machine. The front desk staff is unfriendly to the point of impolite. If the concierge clerk smiled or waved at me more than three times a year on weekdays, I'd be surprised. Property managers are less thanUseful, bordering on incompetent. They don't react in time and don't know their own policies. I have sent numerous emails and never received a timely response. Do yourself a favor and get out of this building as fast as you can!

The Bennington was my first apartment in downtown Silver Spring and I have thoroughly enjoyed the 3 years that I have been there... Pros: 1) The staff is very friendly and greets you as you walk by. I've seen a lot of staff since I started working from home so this included maintenance, cleaning, reception and rental office. I enjoyed the sense of community and really appreciate the service from Avie, Marcia, the owner Deborah and the housekeeping staff who I dealt with frequently.2) Apartments are a great deal, especially if you need space. I had an apartment that was over 800 square feet and compared to other buildings in the area, my rent was at least $200-$300 less. 3) Proximity and ease to the Silver Spring subway station. You can go underground through a connecting garage (NOAA) and get off near the MARC train. The walk is about 5 minutes. As it's also close to the subway, you can let your friends park in the public car park next door, which is free after 7pm. and the weekends. Areas for improvement: 1) Some of the public areas and services could use an update. The gym has the basics but a broken treadmill that has been out of service for months. There is also an "abandoned" car in the parking lot that has been there for some time. 2) The temperature in the building can vary, the hallways can get humid at times and the gym can be hotter than expected. The temperature in the gym has been lower for the last two weeks, which was an advantage. 3) My old apartment had a great view of Georgia Avenue, but that meant it was right next to the train tracks. The windows do a decent job of dealing with the noise from the trains. However, I avoided opening the window when watching TV because the noise, especially the freight trains, was so loud. Overall I had a great experience at The Bennington and would recommend it to anyone who wants value for their apartment in terms of size and doesn't mind not having the latest amenities but just the essentials.

Dirty entrance, stained walls, carpets, hot and smelly hallways, dishonest advertising and just plain horrible experience. I'm moving from the west coast and have visited many places in the city. From the moment I walked in the door until I left I was shocked at how rude and irritating the staff were acting. I walked into the lobby and was greeted by a phone booth and two doors, both of which were locked and required a special key fob to access and enterEntrances to the office in the main building. When I entered, the first thing I saw was that the office was on the right and I tried to open the door only to find it was locked. I could see an open office door with the lights on and no response. I then attempted to enter through the main entrance to see how I could tour the property. I knocked on the door several times and the bouncer acted like he couldn't hear me. Eventually someone walked out the door as I came in after them. I walked in and sat in the seats by the front door and waited for one of the staff to acknowledge me or at least say hello. After sitting for about 10 minutes I walked over to the table and approached the wooden lady who ignored me the entire time. I asked to see the property and the receptionist acted like I was bothering her. I picked up the phone and dialed the office. When he explained that someone was there to view the property, he hung up and said rudely, "You have to wait because there is only one person in the office and they are busy right now and don't have time to view the property, just wait." "and someone can help you." A few seconds later a woman I thought was a resident walked past the front desk into the office and the rude lady at the front desk mumbled something, pointed at me and told the girl walking by that she wanted to see you the property. The girl, probably the only positive experience in the building, happened to be working in the office, she greeted me and introduced herself as Christine.

Bennington was a great place to live. The building itself is not only conveniently located on the red line and close to major shopping areas, but is also extremely well maintained - it feels like you are in a hotel! Aside from the building itself, the best thing about living in Bennington is by far the staff. From the wonderful and extremely helpful staff in the rental office (especially Avie Rockmaker!) to the concierge team, maintenance staff and everyone in between, the team does it allBennington is a truly wonderful place to live. I recommend!
